East Indiaman Götheborg, returning to home port, June 9th, 2007

The East Indiaman, Götheborg, returned to Gothenburg 20 months after her sailing to China. The progress of the voyage has and is available at the projects homepage, http://www.soic.se
Many local tour boats on charter with guests go back and forth before the Götheborg arrives.

As she is getting closer and closer, the sea is full of small craft, and it is almost hard to see her in the midst of all these boats!

The media coverage is pretty massive, and we count three helicopters circling above as well as a few airplanes-
The Port of Gothenburgs representation and service vessel leading the way.
Tugboats Svitzer Oden (left) and Belos (right) next.
Passing the Skarvik oil terminal.
Coming up to the Älvsborgs Bridge.
Behind the bridge, coast guard, police and military vessels guard the entrance. No private crafts are allowed further in to the port at this time. The Götheborg has about half an hour more, before she can berth in the Freeport, and the celebrations start for real!
